3 Vital Steps to Move from Heartbreak to “Heart-Make”

Heartbreak can be one of the most painful elements of the human experience. We were lucky enough to have accredited and certified international Relationship Master Coach, Teresha Young share her three-step journey from Heartbreak to ‘Heart-Make’.

Have you ever found yourself shattered by the pain of heartbreak, uncertain about your love life’s future?

Know that your feelings are legitimate, and you’re not alone. Many individuals face this challenge in their dating journey.

Although it might not feel like it in the moment, know that there’s a way forward, a renaissance from heartbreak to “heart-make” where you can rebuild and rediscover the love you desire and deserve.

Renowned psychologist Carl Jung once said, “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” These words remind us that we have the power to shape our own destinies, even in the wake of heartbreak.

As you navigate the path from heartbreak to healing and resilience, here are three vital steps to guide you:

The first step to move from heartbreak to “heart-make” is healing.

Imagine healing as a transformative process, much like a caterpillar’s journey to becoming a butterfly. This metamorphosis takes time, patience, and self-care, gradually emerging as a stronger and more magnificent version of yourself.

It’s natural to experience sadness, anger, confusion, or a complex mix of emotions during this period. The key is to take the time to grieve the end of your connection and allow yourself to acknowledge and feel the emotions without judgement.

Seek support from friends, family, or a professional such as a therapist, counsellor or coach who can provide a safe space for you to express yourself and find guidance.

Focusing on self-care is equally important during this time. Engage in activities that bring you joy and deepen the connection with yourself. Tap into your passions and interests, explore new hobbies, or set personal and professional goals. Self-care not only supports in emotional healing but also boosts your self-confidence, which can be super appealing when you re-enter the dating world.

Go Over Your Dating Patterns

Heartbreak provides an opportunity for self-growth and introspection.

Take a close look at your past dating patterns and the dynamics of your previous relationships. Identify any recurring themes or red flags you may have ignored or missed. What have you noticed about your behaviour and that of your previous partners?

Use this newfound awareness to re-evaluate your dating criteria. What can you stop, start, and continue doing to create a more enriching dating experience going forward?

Be open to learning from your past decisions and experiences. By breaking free from unhealthy and unhelpful dating patterns, you increase your chances of finding a more compatible and fulfilling relationship in the future.

Embrace Vulnerability and Openness

It can feel scary opening ourselves back up to love. Whilst it’s natural to be guarded after a painful breakup, embracing vulnerability is essential when transitioning from heartbreak to a new beginning and possibilities.

Love often requires emotional risk-taking, despite the fear of potential hurt.

Gradually open yourself to dating again when you feel ready. Take things one step at a time and communicate openly with potential partners regarding your needs, values, boundaries, vision and goals and why those aspects are important to you.

In closing, trust in the resilience of your heart and your power to heal. Every experience, even heartbreak, can be a stepping stone toward a more optimistic, fulfilling dating and relationship future.
